Fab n Funky Challenge #208 "Boys to Men"

Oh my goodness what a few weeks I have had!  Sorry for my absence recently but I was struck down by the dreaded lurgy for the last three weeks!  Completely out of action!

However barring a cough that could call the ships in, I am on the mend and feeling a bit more normal thank goodness.  Just in time for my first time hosting a challenge on behalf of team Funky over at Fab n Funky Challenges.

I chose the theme Boys to Men (or as some might recall Boys II Men!) which involves making a masculine card.  It can be for any age and any occasion but must be suitable for a male recipient!  I really struggle with masculine cards and you will rarely see me attempt them so I thought this was a good challenge to set myself (and would give me a chance to get some inspiration from the entries!)

The sponsors this week are

StampArt Design by Kathryne

Prize: 5 Digis

My Creative Classroom

The prize is a class of the winners choice
please see the website at for details

and so on to my card using Majestic Eagle Head by StampArt by Kathryne

I decided that as I am very behind with a lot of cards due to being poorly, that I would try to catch up and use this opportunity to make my Dad a card.  I still need to decide if it is for Father's Day or my Dad's birthday and so I deliberately just put Dad on the front and once I decide then I will print off an insert with an appropriate sentiment inside to suit whichever occasion.  I kept the colours muted as I wanted the Eagle to be quite dramatic.  I used distress inks to colour the Eagle.  I then just mounted on black and Kraft card alternately, embossed some Kraft card for the background and printed off "Dad" (I used Algerian font) and mounted on black card then raised foam pads.  It is a simple card but I think (hope) my Dad will like it!  Hope you like! x

I would like to enter this card to the following challenges:

Everybody Art Challenge - Non Cute Card
Through the Craft Room Door - Always Anything Goes
Anyone for Anya? - Masculine or Grungy

Crafting from the Heart Challenge - Anything Goes/Use Punches or Dies

Well hi everyone, hope you are all well.  Half term is over so everyone should be back to normal no?  Not in our house - 3 out of 5 of us have horrible colds-  me being one :(.  For some reason even my teeth hurt!
Anyway enough of my moaning!  It's time for a challenge - this time over at Crafting from the Heart where the challenge is Anything Goes/Use punches or dies.
The sponsors are:
Lacy Sunshine
Lacy Sunshine offering 3 digis
The Stamping Chef
Stamping Chef offering 3 digis
So, cold or no cold why not join in the fun?  This time I chose an image from both sponsors and this is what I came up with for my DT projects:
Using Lacy Sunshine - Lizabeth Butterfly Kisses

I decided to make a bag this time as I sometimes struggle with Gift bags etc for kids and I thought this would make a cute gift bag for a special birthday girl.  I used a circle punch to punch out the circles and I used Stampin Up thinlet Butterfly die for the butterflies and a circle die for behind Lizabeth.  I added pinflair glaze to make the butterflies shine.  The image is coloured with pro markers.  The background paper is embossed using a Creative Expressions Mask - The packet doesn't seem to have a name on it though but it is a butterfly/flower frame. The papers are my usual fave - My Mind's Eye. Add a bit of ribbon and voila!
Using Stamping Chef - Fairy Nuff
I thought that for this one I would try my hand at dip dye hair as I have seen it done a few times and thought that this image had some attitude to carry of the look!  Actually for my first attempt I was quite pleased however who knows if I can pull it off again!  Anyway I coloured her quite brightly - I was thinking Bollywood for some reason!¬  I used of course Wink of Stella on the wings and belt.  The rest was pro markers/flex markers.  The second pic shows the wings better.  When it came to putting the card together, it is fairly basic but I am afraid I am putting that down to my cold - I couldn't think straight to work out what to do!  I used spellbinders edgibilities for the green strip and an oval die around Fairy Nuff.  I cut round her wings a bit so that they would not be cut off by the die and to allow them to go beyond the oval.
Hope you like x

Spring Spring Spring!!

At last March is upon us!!  Hooray, nights getting lighter, mornings getting brighter and a few hours between rain showers!  Can only mean one thing -- Spring is on it's way - even the daffodils are popping up!

Today it's time to head over to the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge#3 which this month is to use a main image on your project.  It can be a digi stamp or a general stamp.

The sponsor this month is Glamoureyes

The prize is 5 digis and a surprise free stamp.

I decided for my DT card to use the Stampin' Up Swallowtail stamp.  I am in awe of people's clean and simple cards and so I decided this time to have a go.  Of course I used my pen crush - Wink of Stella to colour it in after I had heat embossed it.  I was going to add a sentiment, but in the end I liked the white space that was left.

Hope you like!
