Fab 'n' Funky Challenge

Hi, well it's time for my first DT card as a member of the Design Team for Fab 'n' Funky (I am in Team Funky!).  Today's challenge is "All about the Words" and is sponsored by the following:

Stampart Design by Kathryne

and
DigiDarla Designs

Both sponsors are offering great prizes so it's well worth heading over to the challenge to try your luck!!

Here's my card using the "Katie" image from StampArt Design by Kathryne.  My card is made using very old stash (K&Co Berry Sweet range plus some pink Co'redinations to set it off) which I thought complimented the image perfectly.  I think I have a thing for Pink and Green at the moment as this is the second card I have made using these colours recently!!  I coloured the image with pro markers and the sentiment is from a Hero Arts sentiment set.  It's a bright refreshing card making me think of spring to come (hurry up Spring!!).  Hope you like! x

I would like to enter this card for the following challenges:

Incy Wincy Designs - Flower Frenzy
LEJ Designs - Challenge #85 Anything Goes
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes

Fit to Burst!

Hey everyone, just a quick post today to share my brilliant news!  I have been selected to be a Designer for two, yes two Challenge Blogs.  They both announced yesterday but as I was busy getting my first DT card done for one of them I didn't even have time to share my joy!  I am so excited!

The first Design Team is for Fab 'n' Funky Challenges which is a weekly challenge blog.  I will be making a card bi weekly as we are in two teams (I am Team Funky!!), however please take a look and feel free to participate weekly.  There are some great sponsors and prizes.  You still have a few hours to take part in Challenge #199 - Recipe and watch out for the new Challenge starting tomorrow!

OUR BLINKIE

The second Design Team slot I was picked for is Crafting from the Heart Challenges which is currently a fortnightly challenge blog, however from 3 March it will be weekly and again, from that date, I will be designing a card bi weekly.  Pop over there in the meantime and take a look as they also have great sponsors and prizes up for grabs!  Check out Challenge #5 - Anything Goes/Fancy Folds Challenge

Challenge Blog Badge

Check out my sidebar for links to all my DT team mates for both Challenge Blogs and for my Cards Galore Encore DT teamies who I joined in January.

Well I think that is enough excitement for one day don't you?  Phew - all before the school run and work!!

Bye for now x

Melt Pot Thursday!!

Finally I got to play with my new melt pot tonight!!  I have to say I was a little nervous but I was excited at the same time to see what I could do!

I decided to use a lovely Dilly Beans image "Daisy Girl Framed".  It is such a pretty image and I thought that the flowers in her hair and round the frame would look lovely as embellishments from my melt pot.  So,  I set about the task, trying hard not to rush into heating up the pot, by printing three of the same sized image, two on white paper and one on patterned Amy Tangerine paper.  I cut away the inside of the frame on the patterned paper to make an aperture frame.  I then coloured the girl and the pink background.  I roughly coloured the flowers just so you wouldn't see any white under my embellishments.  On the third image I only coloured the flowers and then cut them out.  I used pro markers to colour everything.

At last I was able to set up the melt pot!  With my three kids hovering around my cauldron to see if I was going to chuck the dog in to see if she turned into a unicorn, I melted the UTEE and then dipped in my flowers one by one.  As I got to the last couple I was more confident in what I was doing but overall I am really happy with how they turned out.

I then assembled the card, placing the green frame over the image and then using a hot glue gun to stick all of my flowers in place.  Once that was done I thought that the card needed something else so I hunted out some buttons, a few sticky words and added a dab of stickles here and there to finish it off.

All in all my first experience of the melt pot was a success, I would tackle my dipping differently next time but on the whole  I got the effect that I was looking for so here's to more Melt Pot Thursdays!!!  Hope you like x

Book worm!

Hi - today I thought I would show you the cover I made for my kindle!  I got it as a Christmas present but got no cover.  I read all the time and found that I was worried it might get broken in my bag without protection.  I didn't want a run of the mill cover and so I used a tutorial that I found on Pinterest to make myself one using some fabric that I was saving for something special!

I was surprised how quick it was to make!  It took me about an hour and a half but that was with interruptions from the kids.

The tutorial can be found here:

Hope you like!!

All about Me!

Ok, so I have not finished my Kindle cover, nor have I opened my melt pot, however I have managed to open My EK Success Punch Pairings Butterfly set and this morning have succeeded in making this very simple card (Despite the housework!).  I saw these stamps/punches on Create and Craft and bought the flower one for my sister for Christmas and got myself the butterfly one as I love a butterfly!

For a quick card all you need to do is stamp, emboss, colour and assemble - easy peasy!  I stamped it twice so that I could get another butterfly to 3D the flat image.  I used pro markers to colour it in and cut a few mats to layer up.  I used a fancy pre cut card from my stash.  I think you are supposed to pop out the corners but I left them in to reflect the wings of the 3D butterfly!  Hope you like.

Check out Create and Craft, which is where I got mine, however other places also sell them -   EK Success Punch Pairings - Lace Butterfly

Hope you like! x

MIA

Hi All

A quick post today to say I am busy beavering away just now doing some DT work so I can't show anything at the moment but watch this space!  I also decided to make a cover for my kindle - a present from my husband for Christmas.  When it's finished I will post a pic - not a card but stuff I guess!

I was also lucky enough to get a Melt Pot for Christmas which I have been trying to get a chance to play with but so far no luck!  Once I get my Kindle cover finished maybe!!

Anyway, I hope you are all bearing up with this miserable rain and wind.  I cannot wait for the lighter nights!

Hope to see you all again soon x

Cards Galore Encore Challenge #1 - Anything Goes

This is my "Anything Goes" Card using Vintage Beauty 3

I uploaded my image into Serif and added a frame in the background.  When I printed it out I cut away the inside of the frame, added acetate and stamped my sentiment on the acetate.  To avoid seeing through the window to the message inside the card I added a plain white insert.  I coloured the image using my Whisper Pens.  Hope you like!
